"we blew it"...... was not aimed at America in general but the love generation. Anyone who had seen their earlier biker films would know they were never on the side of the Bikers at all, and saw them as cop-out lazy thugs.

Aug 3 12 12:34 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I've always been a Laurel and Hardy fan. March of the Wooden Soldiers is an all time favorite that I've been watching since I was a kid. I guess because I am so familiar with it, that I never really took a moment to stand back and realize that it's truly a WTF film. I showed it to a friend of mine a couple of years ago and she had never seen it. Hearing comments from a non fan's standpoint made me see it in a different light. You have a Toyland where all the fairy tale characters live. But, Santa Claus lives there, too, and is the big cheese. He has his toymaking shop there instead of the North Pole. Oh, and Mickey Mouse is also running around. If you do wrong in this happy place, you are mercilessly dunked in the town water fountain by some executioner-like bullies. Surrounding Toyland is a big fence to keep out bloodthirsty hordes of bogie men. When they escape and threaten to eat the inhabitants, they're assaulted by The Three Little Pigs wielding ballons on sticks and Mickey Mouse flying in a dirigible dropping firecrackers. Need I go on?

If that ain't WTF material, I don't know what is! Blood Sucking Freaks. The ENTIRE MOVIE is a big WTF? Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and 4. The Boogens. My girl would add Mars Attacks by Tim Burton. Huge cast, huge budget.....why?

The first week it was my turn to bring a movie, so I played it fairly conservatively and brought Night of The Hunter which no one really liked. The girl who was suppose to bring the movie for the next movie night, who was extremely strait laced or so it seemed, kept telling me all week that she was going to bring something that was really out there. Well, she did. I'd never seen a singing !$%+ before and hope to never see one again. I fell for every shock, gross out moment in that movie, never expecting any of it.

Aug 4 12 4:51 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The World According To Garp - I know it's supposed to astonish you in the GOOD sense, but to me it's one of those cases where "edginess" seems to be just piled on for the sake of it. Carnal Knowledge - partly for the same reason, but I just didn't like it in general. Too depressing (I know a comedy-drama isn't the same as a light comedy, but I still found it a drag). There's an early All In The Family where Edith accidentally tricks Archie into going to see it - "I thought it was about a priest. You know, Cardinal Knowledge" - and he's fuming about it afterwards. Aug 7 12 12:43 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The Matrix may be peculiar but it almost made sense and was fun for me. The sequels were far worse. Overblown repetitious and pretentious for starters. I kind of liked Captain Kronos for trying to be different, but haven't seen it lately. I think the people behind the Avengers TV show were involved and it had that kind of humor. David Lynch films are so WTF on purpose, and deliberately, caculatedly odd that I don't know if they count. Trying to think of a film that left me both baffled and annoyed, if that's the idea. Besides The Matrix sequels, I mean.

There's a scene where Brando has ice poured into a bizzare hat he's wearing as he mutters, in an elegant British accent, about how unbearably hot it is. There's another scene where Val Kilmer launches into an excellent Brando impression ... except it's the classic Brando voice, not the affected accent Brando is using for the movie. So who is he supposed to be imitiating? So bizzare.

Once again, I mean the scene where one character proves how great an ABBA fan he is. In spite of the John Hinckleys of the world, it's hard to imagine a non-fictional fan who sounds more disturbing to me than that fictional one.

What's the intended interpretation of this thing? Is the whole thing some sort of fable? Was the whole narrative merely a fantasy existing only in the mind of the Brooke Shields character? Or in the mind of the Peter Fonda character? Beats the wampum outta me!

Any of these "spoof" movies as of late. I don't know what to call them. Movies like "Epic Movie", "Date Movie" ect.ect. All that money for that? Being John Malkovitch was pretty WTF for me,but I liked it also.
