Here's an interesting personal experience, one involving a ventriliquist dummy. All of this is the absolute truth!

In 1969, when I was 16 years old, I had a very vivid dream. In the dream, I was walking up a hill on a paved road. Rolling fields were on either side of me. I was older, alone, and wearing a black leather jacket. I looked up, and to the right was a carnival outlined against a blazing sunset. Only this carnival was like nothing I'd ever seen before.

It apparently was abandoned. The ferris wheel was slowly turning in the wind. There were several tents, large and small. But the weirdest thing was a dirigible tied to a mooring. The dirigible was also slowly moving back and forth in the wind.

I walked up the hill and entered one of the tents. Inside, everything was messy, and it struck me that someone lived there. On a chair sat a ventriliquist's dummy. I walked to a bureau and saw my reflection in the mirror above it. The person staring back wasn't me--I was a completely different person, at least 30 years old. In the reflection, I could see the dummy across the room. Suddenly, it's head turned, and it looked directly at me. I felt a sharp surge of panic and woke up.

I've never forgotten that dream. The atmosphere was skewered all the way through. Outside, it was autumn, with balmy breezes. As I got closer to the carnival, I could hear the dirigible moving against the mooring and the flapping of banners and canvas in the wind. Inside the tent, it was freezing and damp!

Now, here's the REALLY weird part. In 1996 or so, I was sitting in my living room reading the newspaper. The television was on. I happened to glance up. Two guys in their 20's or early 30's were walking up a paved hill. One of them was wearing a black leather jacket. At the top of a hill was an abandoned carnival. And tied to a mooring was a blimp! They climb the mooring and take off in the blimp--it was some beer commercial! Budweiser, I think.

I sat there in total shock. There was the majority of my dream, dreamt 30 years before! I was so disturbed by this that I actually called Anheiser-Bush to find out who'd thought of that commercial. They couldn't give me any info and claimed that such a commercial didn't exist! But a buddy of mine saw it that same night at his house, so I know I wasn't imagining things.
