(My apologies if this topic has been brought up before....)
Which movies, generally considered terrible today, scared you when you were a kid?
I looked at THE SLIME PEOPLE last night, and remembered that, seeing for the first time when I was about eight years old, how absolutely terrifying it seemed at the time. The Slime People lurking about in the fog (the optical printing bill on that picture must have been astronomical) was pretty creepy stuff for an eight-year-old kid.
Similarly, at about that same age, I was quite frightened by the climax to ROBOT MONSTER (Ro-Man's murder of the little girl, the strange final shot of Ro-Man exiting Bronson Caves over-and-over again), and the Big Reveal in SHE DEMONS where the mad scientist's wife shocks the hapless castaways with her scarred face and demon-like eyes.
For me, those scenes in those pictures worked, and though overall each of those films is justly maligned, those little moments are effectively nightmarish enough to have burned into my memories and have stayed with me these many years.
