Feb 8 08 12:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The problem with the helicopter blade scene from Dawn is the GIANT, laughable, SQUARE appliance worn by the stuntman as he shambles right into the centre of the screen. He looks like the Frankenstein monster. The effect, per se, isn't bad, but the makeup used to make it possible is horrendous. Professor Von X

If we're talking about productions above that level, I always thought much of Phil Leakey's Hammer stuff looked about like some of the "do it yourself, kids!" jobs in the good old MONSTER MAKEUP HANDBOOK. Mar 24 08 9:24 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I know better than to expect great special effects from a Mexican wrestling/horror film, but the monster from SANTO vs KILLERS FROM OTHER WORLDS (SANTO CONTRA LOS ASESINOS DE LOS OTROS MUNDOS) had to be absolutely the worst I've ever seen. I'm guessing it was supposed to be a "Blob" type creature, but what it was, actually, was 5 or 6 guys rolling or crawling around in a plastic tarpaulin. You've gotta see it to believe it.

SHIP OF MONSTERS is one of those films I've wanted to see (or see a few clips, at least) since I read about in one of those 'Golden Turkey'-type 70's movie books. The cow skull with the Fernado voice is probably my favorite. "Ha! Ha! Ha!" If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Apr 6 08 3:55 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	From the Earth to the Moon. The flying rocket is a stationary prop against a blue background (probably the sky). In some shots, the flames shooting out below move about, exposing the attached gas pipes off to the side. A meteor that threatens the ship is a wire-suspended metal ball with holes everywhere. The effects guys filled it up with 4th of July sparklers, set the whole thing on fire, and kept swinging past the ship's winow. In some shots, the sparks enter the cabin, destroying the illusion of there actually being any glass to protect the crew from being sucked into space. Last Edited By: carl2000 Apr 7 08 6:54 AM.
