At any given time over the last 50 years, there were kids recreating scenes from his movies without knowing exactly how it was done, but enjoying every minute of it. Thanks, Ray!

I eventually used the Aurora Prehistoric Scenes models to try to animate, but they would never stay in place. I distinctly remember making Return to the Forbidden Valley as a sequel to Gwangi. I was amazed by that movie. I was (am) a huge dinosaur fan and that was not only animated perfectly (I think Gwangi and the rhedosaurus were some of Ray's smoothest animation.) but it was such a detailed model. Those neck muscles were amazing and the overall detail was astounding.

Ray's memories are vague about the shot, saying in his book An Animated Life: "To try and make some money out of my animation, I filmed a sequence for a religious group. All I can remember is that it featured a miniature set of three Biblical crosses against a dramatic sky." (In addition to his 16mm fairy tales, he had considered doing a series of short films based on the Bible and the works of Edgar Allan Poe, but all that came of the notion were a series of sketches.)
