Despite his tough guy image, Marc was a really nice, friendly guy. Some years back I contacted him about the idea of working with him on a "real" book, one that would concentrate on his lengthy film career and memories of the many, many stars he'd worked with. Marc was hip to the idea, though his companion at the time pretty much made me promise that if the project got going it would stick ONLY to his movies and avoid his experience with HUAC, which was okay with me since it was Marc's career that most interested me. When I was in Vegas working on another book project I had a few telephone chats with Marc, who, though his hearing was not the best and his companion was usually on the other line to translate, seemed as sharp as ever. He invited me to visit him at his home in Palm Springs and, to my eternal regret, while I did venture into California once during my Nevada stay, never took him up on his offer. Sadly, the book project never happened as Marc's health was starting to fail, but we more or less kept in contact by telephone and he even sent me a copy of "Long Time, No See", self-published through Ursus Press, which he inscribed in a funny way. Wish we could have worked on the book ten years prior as the guy did have a wealth of stories, ranging from Abbott & Costello to Lawrence Tierney. I recall him saying about A&C that Costello was a bit of a pest but he always felt Bud Abbott was a very lonely man.

I believe a writer named Justin Humphreys did do an interview with Marc which was published in a book (title I can't recall), along with other actors such as Dick Bakalyan.
