Mar 2 10 4:43 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was researching the Tuskegee Airmen and came across this picture with ties to a military base about 10 miles from my hometown. Apparently, Julia Adams was one of the "official" pin-up girls for the soldiers at the base. This would have been taken sometime in the 1950's. Last Edited By: David Sechrest Mar 3 10 12:22 PM. Tom Weaver mentioned that the subject of the Gill-Man has been thoroughly milked so that a new book (even non-plagiarized) would have little to add. That may well be true, but what we need now is some sort of cross-index. For instance: I recall distinctly reading an article in which we are told that someone had dinner at Orson Welles' house and announced that while he (the visitor) was in South America, he heard the legend of a "man-fish" to which a maiden was sacrificed once a year. William Alland (who was in Citizen Kane, of course) stored this story away in memory, and eventually it became CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. I was going to show this amusing after-dinner tale to someone . . . and I spent a week going through every FILMFAX, every STARLOG, every SCARLET STREET, and every other likely publication in my house, trying to find that anecdote. And failing. It was about this time that I had tried desperately to lower the mass of 'zines in my abode, the first deliberate weeding I'd done since picking up my first FM in the 'sixties. It's possible I managed to throw the Creature out with the bath water. In any case, does anyone know in what articles/books the supposed South American legend may be found?

Mar 19 10 11:00 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My Alland interview (with that anecdote) was in STARLOG, and then reprinted in the MidMar book MONSTERS, MUTANTS AND HEAVENLY CREATURES (which I think has been newly reprinted with a new cover and color illustrations). I guess it's on my CREATURE audio commentary too. Thanks for remembering!
