Love those Brit comedies of the 50s, especially when they're chockful of monster kid-friendly stars.
Recently watched and highly recommended:
-- MAKE MINE MINK (1960), a very funny Terry-Thomas vehicle featuring Athene Seyler (Old Mother Karswell of NIGHT OF THE DEMON, second-billed and dottier than ever), Billie Whitelaw (THE OMEN, FLESH & THE FIENDS), Jack Hedley (Lt. Fred Williams in THE NEW YORK RIPPER), Peter Vaughan (FANATIC, STRAW DOGS), John Van Eyssen (Harker in HORROR OF DRACULA) and, in an eye-popping, bra-busting bit, the great Claire Gordon (Sandra, the carnivorous plant food, in KONGA).
-- THE BELLES OF ST. TRINIAN'S (1954), droll whimsy about a girls school from hell co-starring George Cole (THE VAMPIRE LOVERS), Michael Ripper (in a saucy turn as a randy jockey), Beryl Reid (THE BEAST IN THE CELLAR) and, as two of the slinkiest high school hellcats, Andree Melly (BRIDES OF DRACULA's Little Gina) and Belinda Lee (GHOSTS OF ROME, CONSTANTINE & THE CROSS).
-- THE NAKED TRUTH (1956) boasts Peter Sellers in a dry run for Clouseau as a bumbling master of disguise, as well as fun encounters with Shirley Eaton (THE MILLION EYES OF SUMURU), Miles Malleson (THE THIEF OF BAGDAD), Ronald Adam (THE HAUNTING), Kenneth Griffith (Diffring's flunky in CIRCUS OF HORRORS), Bill Edwards (the FIRST MAN INTO SPACE himself, this time as a Texan) and the always welcome Michael Ripper.
