Feb 23 11 11:47 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I wouldn't buy a pirated copy of a new movie (not because I'm honest, but because I have no interest in new movies) -- but if somebody offers me the loan of one, and I can bring it home and watch it with somebody who IS excited to see it, I enjoy doing that. Saw TRUE GRIT last week and I enjoyed it. Now I'm being offered THE FIGHTER, which would tempt me IF somebody else I know would watch with me. And, yes, the quality these days is quite nice.

Mar 14 11 12:36 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I wasn't much of a gamer and still not much of a gamer, BUT, my daughter talked me into buying OBLIVION: ELDER SCROLLS IV. I was hesitant at first because of my lack of skill, but I caught on real quick and enjoyed the story line very much. You can read about the game here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...der_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion It offers different game play settings from easy to hard. I started out on easy and once I got the hang of it, I bumped up the settings. If you decide to buy it, be sure to get the GAME OF THE YEAR edition. It's been out for quite some time now, and should be fairly inexpensive. An ELDER SCROLLS V will be coming out later this year. I'm looking forward to it. If you don't mind my recommendation, I would go with one controller initially and get a remote as well. I like using the remote for movies more so than the controller. Also, if you listen to music and have wireless internet in your home, you can stream music from your computer through the PS3 wirelessly. There's a neat little program designed for the PS3 that is great for doing just this. When I initially bought the PS3, I wanted it for movies and music. But—be forewarned: the first unit I purchased only lasted 18 months before it died. I'm now on my second unit and have had it for over two years now. It generates A LOT of heat, so be sure to put it somewhere so it can dissipate the heat without any obstructions. Last Edited By: David Sechrest Mar 14 11 12:42 AM. Edited 1 times.

I need to call our cable provider (Time Warner) and set up an appointment for them to hook our new TV to the internet, and advise me about wi-fi. And something else, but I'm not sure what right now. I don't much about our PS3 as yet. We have two games, one of the Lego Star Warsy things, and Uncharted. I realized after playing the Lego game a while that reading the instructions could be very useful. At a party last weekend, Marv Wolfman showed me his wife's I-Pad (series 2), his own being at home. He showed us some of his apps, told how he uses it as a word processor while on trips (of which he takes a lot, almost always as a convention guest--next stop, Buenos Aires), and other delightful things about it. I realized that I knew someone who would adore an I-Pad: Beverly, who hardly ever spends very much money on herself. But Noel, Marv's wife, also showed >her< the wonders of the I-Pad, so when I said we should get one for her (that is, Beverly), she was all for it.

Jun 6 11 1:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I like the Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Socom war shooter games a lot. I also like the western games. Call of Juarez, Red Dead Revolver, and Red Dead Redemption are a lot of fun for the western fan. For the western fan who also loves horror is Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare in which you get to blast old West zombies. I also like Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, both games set in post-apocalyptic settings filled with mutant creatures and a decimated American landscape.

My brother is in video game design, and worked on UNCHARTED 2. I'm not much of a gamer myself, but he showed me the game and it was very impressive. It was critically very well received when it came out last year. For those of you familiar with the game, my brother did the opening train wreck sequence (among other things).

Jun 6 11 8:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	We've been fooling around with a loaned copy of the first Lego STAR WARS game, which is kind of cute but perplexing. Then again, I suppose it's supposed to be. Very odd technical problem: the sound on the receiver occasionally goes out, just for a fraction of a second; a red light on the front of the receiver also goes out. But this happens ONLY on HBO HD, so it has something to do with the interface between HBO and my TV set, I guess, unless everyone who gets HBO HD has the same problem. We are now altogether set up, 3D and all, though we discovered the laserdisc player doesn't work. It's probably a problem with the belt inside--I had to have it replaced a couple of times before. So we just left it out of the system, and now I have a passle of laserdiscs to somehow dispose of.

SAM33 That's the only reason I've kept a handful (near to a gaggle) of laser disc titles--because of the album covers to some favorite movies (or the Bond titles, 'cause I'm silly that way about collecting Bond). And a handful of the handful are framed and on the wall like some of the old LPs are. The titles I got rid of (something like a crate full--and heavy, them bastids is) sold for about $25.00. I intend to get that largely because Beverly wants it--and she hardly ever expresses preferences for much of anything. The name of the game is (a tv series) is actually L.A.NOIRE, with the E. That leaves me puzzled as to how to pronounced it. "Noir" is "nwarh"--so would "noire" be pronounced to rhyme with with "foyer" or as "noyer" or "nwarh"?

I don't know enough French to know if that's an alternative spelling or has some significance or what.
