I had quite the adventure today. About 2 years ago I bought a dual VHS/DVD recorder. I experimented back then with all types of blank DVD-R's and settled on the Fuji brand. Okay.
So today I finally ran out of the blank discs and I go to the store to buy more of the brand that has been good to me - the Fuji blank DVD-R's. When I try to record a VHS over to DVD-R, nothing happens. I then realize that these new Fuji discs (and most other brands presently in the store too) say they record "up to 16x", while my old discs which worked well only had the "8x" capacity.
While returning the blanks to the store I met with a lady who was having the same troubles and it would seem that our machines do not handle anything other than 8x very well.... so I settled for the last spool of DVD-R's on the shelf, by "Verbatim" (which I hear is a good company). So far, so good...
But I wonder -- is this another annoying case of new technology taking over too quickly?? I mean, I have to keep finding the old 8x blanks to use with my machine!
