I know this should probably go in another folder (I actually DID put it in "Horror Tech" a few days ago & got no response, and I KNOW someone out there probably knows the answer so I thought I'd try it here).
okay, gotta question. If I record a movie off, say, TCM onto my DVD recorder, I have the choice of which speed to use for good/better/best quality. My particular recorder has 6 choices (obviously starting with best qualilty & getting less down the line): HQ (60 min); HSP (90 min); SP (120 min); HLP (150 min); LP (180 min); ELP (210 min); and EP (240 min).
So, if I record a show at, say, HQ, quality will be excellent, if I record in LP, not as good. Now, if I take THAT DVD-R I just made and recorded it onto another disc (to make a second copy), do those speeds still affect the quality, or since I'm going digital to digital, could I make the second dub in any speed I choose & still have the same quality? A buddy of mine said that once I'd made the initial DVD-R off TV in whatever speed & quality I had chosen, it wouldn't matter WHAT speed I used to make the second dub from the DVD-R, since I'd be going digital to digital & wouldn't lose any quality no matter what speed I chose.
Anyone know if that's true, or does EACH dubbing depend on speed for quality, even a DVD to another DVD (or DVD-R to another DVD-R)
thanks, Jeff
