More likely is an episode of a program like THE ADDAMS FAMILY or maybe a short film. I'll watch a movie on my cellphone, too. I have an LG EnV cell which flips open laterally to reveal a QWERTY keyboard, a large screen and stereo speakers. It holds a 2 gigabyte microSD removable memory chip which I can plug into my laptop, download a PD movie in 256kb MPEG-4 at no cost from Internet Archives and then insert the dime-sized chip back into my cell and watch the movie in a waiting room, for example. Watched DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS that way while a family member was seeing a physician. The chip can hold about ten movies. GARY L. PRANGE "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectos nunc."

My chair is not the most comfortable so its not my preference but since my wife and I do not like or watch the same moviesI treat it just like another DVD player / monitor. The picture quality is better than the TV anyway.

Feb 7 07 12:33 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have an iMac with a 1344 x 840 (20-inch) monitor, considerably larger than the 10-inch color TV I have in my efficiency apartment (I'm away at law school). So I watch my Netflix DVD rentals on my computer, with widescreen and stereo sound. I wish I had the comfort of sitting on the couch as I watched (but on the other hand I tend to fall asleep on the couch a lot). When I sit a foot in front of my iMac monitor, the screen fills much of my field of vision, so it's more like watching the movie in a theater.

Aug 28 11 5:49 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have an old-style cathode-ray TV that is seldom ever switched on, and cannot pick up digital pictures. I watch most movies on an LED projector, which puts the fun back into movie-watching. However this is obviously more practical after dark. On occassion, I crave seeing a movie in daytime, and that's when I bung in a DVD on the computer monitor: being LED, the resolution is far greater than my old TV set. It's not quite as comfortable sitting watching on a computer stool, but if it's a gripping enough movie,I will stay the course. I use VLC free media-player to view movies by computer, and I can't reccomend it highly enough: not only can you obtain quality screen-grabs via freeze-frames [very handy for adding stills onto this forum] VLC also has a great graphic equalizer where you can tailor the sound to your specific tastes using sliding bars: used in conjunction with a 5:1 speaker system with subwoofer, the results are excellent, noticably more advanced than my ten-year-old standalone amp I use with my projector. So watching an entire movie on a computer monitor is fine now and again. I NEVER watch movies on TV. 'the horror..............THE HORROR!' Yes, I often watch DVDs on my computer, but I have a panoramic HD screen, connected to the PC by an HDMI cable, so the results are sometimes better than on my television, even for Blu Ray. And, as somebody wrote earlier, it's more easy to discern the details on the PC. I also use headphones, so I can watch a movie at any hour of the night if I don't sleep. May 17 12 6:09 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My kid hooks her laptop up to a widescreen flatscreen monitor with external ipod speakers for dormroom slumber parties. Now that she's back for summer, we watched CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER that way together, and it wasn't a half bad set-up. I even sat through THE HELP 3 times 'cuz it looked and sounded so good. Now she wants me to plug in my external drives where I keep old tv shows and movies so she can catch up on DOCTOR WHO. I'm down with that.
