Apr 24 12 5:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I remember seeing this one in FM, a LONG time ago. I remember being upset as a kid, because I don't like heights or balconies. It still upsets me, but in a different way. I think of BK's physical pain at hauling around approximately 154 pounds of dead weight. I also think of CC's physical pain (dislocated shoulder) as well, and HIS dislike of being hauled around for "Jimmy's" excessive takes. Of such was the Screen Actor's Guld born.... Apr 27 12 4:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have, Many times, and I honestly don't think that James Whale considered BRIDE as an "exact" sequel. It always felt like a 'stand alone' picture' in its own right. James Whale was tired of "horror", and felt that he'd milked the theme for all it was worth.. He fully intended to end the franchise with a "Big Bang", as evidenced by Henry's "death" in the explosion. Both men went on to bigger things: Whale, to SHOWBOAT and Clive to Broadway, and LIBEL. "E" (who loves BRIDE!) Your Signature ... "....I do hope he won't upset Henry..."

I don't believe the actual scene has a shot from this particular angle, though. ( And may have been re-staged here on a different part of the set ) - GJS

Right after the monster makes his first appearance and reaches for the light? Fritz rushes in with the torch. Note that Clive is wearing his jacket in this scene. In the "post Fritz" scene with Victor, he's wearing a torn white shirt..... "E" Your Signature ... "....I do hope he won't upset Henry..."

May 7 12 10:58 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If Bette had been cast, it would've made a nice bookend to her later work ... but, she would've been wasted or her role expanded to the detriment of the film ... MAYBE. Still, I thoroughly enjoy Miss Clarke's work, and prefer her over her successor in "Bride ...", but that's life, unfortunately. Again, I prefer this one over "The Bride ..." 'cuz it set the mood and standard. "Lord I love Spring! The birds, the fair weather, the new flowers. It doesn't get any better than this. HOLY CRAP! what's THAT?!?"

May 11 12 5:50 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In regards to post 86 this is the scene in question, it looks like it is on the same set as the still photograph, and it's the part before The Monster is going crazy, chained in the cellar, then Fritz comes in with a whip . It's on this You Tube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyQdvwcmpTo&feature=relmfu at about 3:27 here Is there something missing or cut out at 3:21 where Waldman hits him with an object? It seems like an abrupt cut, not all that smooth. Here's Waldman attacking the Monster The Monster here is falling backwards, then sharp cut now, instead of falling backwards, he is falling forwards.... Edit: Skelton Knaggs is correct on post 92 that the scene of the Monster being subued ends before Fritz is crouching like he is in the sitll photograph. Maybe that was filmed and trimmed out? It has a very clear view of Karloff's left forearm but it doesn't have the metal brace and the bands we usually see. Did it just come off during filming? Or maybe they didn't have time to apply it. This is obviously a posed still, with an added strong light coming from the right. Looks like the arm brace was removed before the actors were called back to pose. I can’t see the neck bolts either, but I think that’s just the angle we’re getting. Bobtheman: About the abrupt cut at 3:21 on the clip… Just prior to the hit, you can see Waldman picking up Fritz’ cane on the step. The closeup where he hits The Monster was originally censored.
