Apr 22 08 4:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Im currently listening to the music of Donnie darko ok it borrowed famous 80's tracks yet they fit the film so Naturally, Also checking out Daughters of darkness music its very mezmarising and so European, I think the Italian horror films such as flesh eaters and many more have consistently good music. Oh last but not least the Tv puppet series Starfleet soundtrack is great with one of the members of Queen playing in it also.

Apr 26 08 6:07 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Just finished listening to James Horner's BATTLE BEYOND THE SUN and HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP. I like Horner despite the many and repeated claims of, if not plagiarism, taking the term "inspired by" to new levels. Let's just say that anyone who has listened more than a few times to Prokofiev's ALEXANDER NEVSKY or Goldsmith's STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE will experience a strange sense of deja vu while listening to BATTLE. In fairness to Horner, though, it may be that the film was temp tracked with cues by those composers and, this early in his career, he felt that he needed to imitate those cues as closely as possible. Still, it is unmistakable where the "inspiration" came from. HUMANOIDS only sounds familiar in retrospect. Here we can hear can hear some musical phrases he will put to much better use in WOLFEN.

Listening to a bunch of jazz I've checked out from my store -- the Time-Life Classic Jazz collection, The Genius of Charlie Parker, First Miles (Davis), John Coltrane Newport '63, Swinging Kicks (Buddy Bregman) -- along with Psychedelic Chemistry and Mancini's The Party.

May 2 08 10:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I'm listening to the Lp to CD conversions I just did for John Barry's THE GOLDEN SEAL score (co-written with Dana Kaproff) and Dusan Radic's score for GENGHIS KHAN. I love the Radic score but have been unhappy with the Lp ever since I first purchased it. It claims to be in "visual sound" stereo but, like my ONE-EYED JACKS Lp, it is definitely NOT in stereo. Maybe some sort of "electronically enhanced" pseudo stereo, but not real stereo. I eventually got a JACKS that satisfied me so I can always hope that a KHAN will come my way someday. The arrangements with her Parlor Boys are first rate, evoking the periods with authentic instrumentation, wit and charm.
