You know the score -- or rather the one you didn't score.
The uber-desirable eBay item you muffed.
Your eyes glaze over as they fall upon the desired item and your mind becomes clouded by the opiate haze of collectors' joy. You wait all week for the item to come up for bid and when it does, you forget -- or you fat-finger the bid amount -- or you have the wrong window selected just moments before the auction ends -- or you sit and watch helplessly as your system grinds away as the remaining seconds tick by, your bid caught in the unholy vice-grip of internet and server traffic, only to finally make it through to be rewarded with the words "This auction has ended." Heck, I've literally had my finger one mouse-click from victory with seconds to go and have someone walk in and ask a question causing me to forget to send the bid.
AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!
I missed out on a set of six original stills from THE TERROR ('28) that went for a measley $12. Just forgot to bid. (Ever notice how when you forget to bid the item seems to always go for an obscenely low amount, adding insult to injury?) I'll never have an opportunity like that again, I thought.
And then several months later I missed out on a second group of original stills from THE TERROR ('28) that went for less than $30. Forgot this one, too.
There are other examples of painful muffs, but I must have wiped them from my memory banks. (Somewhere I have list of muffs I need to find.) What are some of your agonies of defeat?
