I have a pretty good size collection, though they're mostly autographs I've gotten myself from meeting celebs in person in Manhattan. Then of course there are also the many horror/sci-fi convention attendees over the years where it's been easy to obtain their signatures.

I've also done the "mail request" thing a little, but I've never trusted this completely because I like to see the person signing to know it's authentic and not a secretary/friend.

I've bought a few autographs off Ebay as well, of people who are deceased. I've only really gone for ones which I can really believe almost 100% are genuine (and even then there's no real guarantee). One of these was a supposed Bela Lugosi signature which I paid about $365 for (I didn't really pay anything and it was more like a trade when you think about it, as I sold off $400 worth of items to get the cash!). I tend to mainly buy old ratty looking pages from autograph albums which were apparently torn out of the books. This particular one was from a collection of many separate autograph pages where it was said that the person's grandfather kept a book when he worked as a crew member in lighting, on many old films. I figured that was as logical as it could get. I framed it with a nice photo of Bela, but every time I looked at the piece I could never shake the possibility that it might not be real. It always looked a little too neat to me, and I could never shake the idea that perhaps Lugosi's wife had signed it (though it did appear to come from an autograph book). Anyway - I eventually sold it off to one of my collector friends for a reduced price.

I'm pressed for time now but later on I'll list the ones I got in person, through mail, and online.
