I was in grade school when these hit the streets back in '73, and I was happy when I saw that Unifan had posted a link to them in the "Horror Online" folder.
Once I started to click on the thumbnails to view the larger versions, I began to realize that Topps must have been given the rights to the Monsters only as Mary Philbin, Evelyn Ankers, Elsa Lanchester, Etc., had all had their heads replaced by some nobody.
I also noticed there isn't a Dracula card in either series, and any card with Lugosi's Ygor had been given the same treatment as the ladies mentioned above.
I wonder why both sets combined go for about $150 given the fact that about 2/3 of them are afflicted with this botchy head replacement.
Luckily, I picked up the '80 Creature Features for about $40, and a majority of the '73 cards are represented here in the 88 card set. This series focused mainly on solo Monster shots, so it looks much better than the '73.
It seems that '73 singles are easier to come by, and through process of elimination, I was able to come up with a short list of about 24 cards that I'd like to add to my collection.
If anyone out there has some loose '73 singles kickin' around, I'd be happy to take them of your hands.
