Dec 30 06 4:07 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I looked all through the Toys and Collectibles threads and didn't find one for the posting of our model kits! Horrors! I've had a great time looking at the member art in the Comic Art thread that I thought it would be great to share images of our model kits. I'll start with a couple of my favorites. And to make it a bit more fun let's add captions under the photos like the old Spook Stories trading cards! The Horizon Frankenstein Dancing With Stars? I thought it was Dancing With Scars!

Aurora Frank And whilst we are on Aurora and Franks...my all time favorite kit...Big Frank. I have so much reverence for this kit, I was truly afraid to paint it...had it for ten years before I got the nerve... Another Aurora favorite... Mike Hill's Dracula bust... Dimensional Designs Hunchback... Dimensional Designs awesome Midget Monster series had some great sculpts by Randy Lambert... Set of Zombie Puppets with a scratch built dio... One of the old Haunted Mansion kits...I tried to make the organ player look like a ghost but...dunno if it worked or not. Anyway...few of mine....KEEP POSTING...I love looking at other people's work!

I think that your Aurora Frankenstein has about the best paint job on it that I've ever seen on that kit! Great detailing on the clothing and the dry brushing on the grass! I'd like to see a close up of the face! I have a Big Frankie that I picked up at a collector's show ages ago. It was painted and assembled and my intention was to strip it down and repaint it, but I didn't have the heart to do it. Is yours an Aurora or recast? And, yes, the Haunted Mansion figure does look like a ghost! Masterful! Cap

When the movie first came out on DVD I was working at a promo agency in the same building as the ad agency for Blockbuster. The guys in charge of doing the art for the Monster standees which BB used to promote the DVDs at Halloween had seen this model on my shelf and ask me if they could take pictures of it for reference. A couple of months later I found this Creature standee in my office as a thank you.

I agree with the assessment on the face of the Wolfman...gorgeous examples! The recent Headknockers from Neca remind me very much of the Dimensional Designs Midget Monsters series. I retouched the Dracula.... Here are a few more...not necessarily classic monsters but, monsters none the less. Oops...I do have another shot of a Classic but, the photo is lousy... Would have been happy to share better pics of the Aurora Frank but, all of these were painted for friends... The only ones still in my collection are the Big Frank and Neca Dracula.

Found a few more classics... This crazy thing was life sized! This too! Back to Aurora... ...and Midget Monsters.... Some of the Geometric busts... This guy had more of a blueish tint...don't know why the photo makes it look green... These were some little Monster Busts I did for a friend...the kit was a 3D replica of the old Don Post Monster Mask Ad from Famous Monsters...

And the paint job on the Dracula headknocker certainly made the piece look more like Bela! Here's one that always tickled my fancy! It's the Horizon Mummy which has Tom Tyler's head from The Mummy's Hand on Jr.'s body! That botox treatment made me look twenty years younger!

Jan 1 07 2:22 AM Burgomaster Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This was the first garage kit I finished -- musta been back in 1995. It's a cold cast porcelain kit from Action Kits. Here he is unmasked. If you're familiar with the kit, you can tell I modified the head a great deal. The Phantom's face looked a little too much like Lee Marvin for my taste, so I resculpted it. The hair, cheekbones, bone structure around the eyes and the jowl lines were completely overhauled with white modeling putty (I didn't know any better at the time; it's all I had -- but it still held up!). And a close up. You can't tell from the photo, but I used a tiny two-bristle brush to paint the face -- there's a lot of little lines, sorta inspired by the cover of the FM 1966 Fearbook. GARY L.
