Let's post our art here! It should be a hoot and a holler to share.
Here's some of mine from my Flickr account. Some horror-themed, some not. Time to reorganize my Flickr account, methinks.

That is some FANTASTIC art work guys! Keep it up!
Here is one of the first, of movie related art projects that I have worked on during the Summer. Let me start off by saying, while I enjoy Burton's Batman more than Begins, as an artist, Begins lends it self well to painting. Here is a "poster" I did based on Begins, done in the style of 1930's pulp detective covers. It is meant to be semi realistic, with an artistic, vintage flair. It is a water color original, already framed, so there is unfortunately a flash glare. Please LMK what you think! i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ryanjeri/Personal%20Art/IMG_0066.jpg Here is a similar piece I did called BATMAN:1939. It is from my own imagination, symbolizing the rivalry between Batman and the Joker. Again, the flash isn't in the actual painting, but it does give the picture a moon effect. I tried to mke it fairly realistic, again with a 1930's pulp style. The Joker is based on Conrad Veidt. Here it is: BATMAN: 1939 i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ryanjeri/Personal%20Art/IMG_0068.jpg This is something I did after watching SUPERMAN RETURNS. I am proud of the Clark in the corner and the Kevin Spacey likeness, but I hate the Superman flying behind him. i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ryanjeri/Personal%20Art/supermanreturns.jpg The second is Michael Keaton as Batman and Nicholson as the Joker, and the third is a Highlander montage I did. i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ryanjeri/Personal%20Art/batman.jpg i17.photobucket.com/albums/b94/ryanjeri/Personal%20Art/highlander.jpg |

All kidding aside (oh no, not that!)...
I think the idea of a CHFB member art gallery is a superb idea. I think, in fact, it should have it's own folder. A place where artists, pro and otherwise, can post their own interpretations of our beloved characters and actors. I LOVE to see other artist's takes on Karloff, Chaney, etc., etc... We here on the CHFB are always expressing our opinions through the written word. But language isn't the only way to make a point. I've been doing it for years using caricature as my mouthpiece. A piece of art is as vital as any essay, article or analysis. It represents love, reverence, indifference or hatred of it's subject. Certainly with our genre we are more likely to see love and reverence, but it doesn't matter. Bring on your sketches, your paintings and your doodles. Share it with us, we are excited to see them. Remember this...Any day that you pick up a pencil and draw is a good day. Any day you pick up a pencil and draw a MONSTER is an even better day! Wake up your inner Gogos. Draw. Paint. Doodle. Share your monsters with us. ![]() Frank Dietz

Re: Vincent Price | ||
|
Heres something I just started working on yesterday.. Its a picture of Vincent Price from War Gods of the Deep.. I used a photo reference. I think it was from an old publicity picture, then added to it, like the hand holding the spear which wasn't originally there. I'm planning on painting it up in the style of old movie posters from the 60's and 70's or possibly going a Basil Gogos route with it. I've been out of this for so long.. I used to work in illustration then got burnt out and haven't done hardly any art for the past 6 years or so.. Now I'm wanting to get back into it. Hope you like it.. There will be alot more of these coming in the future.

You guys are great! I'm really enjoying all of it. Please keep it going!
Note to Mike Metzler: your stuff is terrific (is that third pic of the Slime People?), but a little difficult to navigate horizontally. Do you think you could stack your three separate images vertically? No need to re-post anything: just hit the return key between each of your posted URL links (starting each on a separate line) and they should stack vertically. Thanx bud! |

There's a lot of nice stuff here. Some of mine can be seen at the soon to be completely overhauled www.johnrozum.com
Everything is done as collage with just scissors and a gluestick, and can be seen under "art". I just added a portrait of H.P. Lovecraft to the "news" section. If you hunt around in the archived news, you'll find some other monsters lurking which have not been moved to the permanent art section. |

Quote: That's okay, Doc. It's a given. I always have to digitally adjust the image after it's scanned to get it at least close to what it looks like "in the flesh." Just don't let that stop you from continuing to create (first) and continuing to share (second). This is a very cool thread and I'm enjoying seeing everyone's work! Frank Dietz

Not sure how to edit my previous posts. I don't see anything onscreen to do such a thing. I'll gladly do this if you can walk me through it. Yep, that was THE SLIME PEOPLE. I have got to be the only one in the world that drew 'em. |

Oh, and while you're at it, can someone let me how to put a cute lil' avatar next to my name? I have no clue how you guys do it.
Thanks! |

Re: More help please | ||

Yo Mike. Make sure you're logged in on the Classic Horror Film Board page, and there should be an 'Edit' command next to the reply button under your screen name. Hit that and you'll be able to go in and put each image 'URL" on a separate line, stacking them vertically.
As for adding an avatar, I've never done it but Count Gamula has posted some pretty easy to follow instructions at the top of the home page in the Getting Started thread. Good luck! |
