Most of us on this board are in love with the classic stable of monster characters - Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Phantom of the Opera, etc....
But how many of us have actually read the original novels?
I must admit that the only one I've braved the whole way was Oscar Wilde's THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY. I've skimmed through THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and have copies of DRAC, FRANK, and JEKYLL, but haven't read them yet. The openings didn't really grab me, so I gave up pretty soon. I have too many enjoyable (for me, at least) books to read.
