I watched HOD again last night. The coincidences in this film are amazing:
1) Edelmann has Dracula and the Wolf Man visit him within hours of each other, each looking for a cure.
2)The Frankenstein monster washes into the cave below Edelmann's house.
3)Talbot washes into the same cave.
4)The cave just happens to house the fungus spores (or whatever) that can cure the Wolf MAn.
5) The cave just happens to have a passage that leads right into Edelmann's cellar.
Anyway, I still like this film. The monsters look good even if they really don't do anything. Unless I'm mistaken, the 3 main monsters don't kill a soul. The Wolf Man passed out in the cell during one of his appearances. He almost killed Edelmann, but the moon disappeared just in time. The scariest thing Dracula does is force Miliza to play a song on the piano. Frankenstein's monster does what he does best in Glenn Strange's boots......lie on a lab table. (It's a shame Universal couldn't think of something for Strange's monster to do in any of his films.) Only Edelman kills anyone. And yet, with spooky photography, spooky sets and a monster on-screen at almost all times, I still like HOD. If only Bela had played Dracula!
