Katsuhiro Otomo's groundbreaking anime, in that the West finally started paying attention. I was recently wondering if this still held up. It still does.
There is some computer aid, but this is an early enough anime in that if uses no CGI, and it probably all the better for it. It knows how to pace itself, it holds shots, it doesn't go crazy with unnecessary levels of detail.
This is not a pleasant film, it presents a violent, bloody dystopia, and may require more than one view to fully appreciate. You are not likely to get what you expect on your single viewing.
Still works. Highly recommended.
