Once again I'd like to nominate the hippest preacher in horror, Rev. Peter Laws, for his website The Flicks That Church Forgot.
A Baptist minister sounds like the least coolest horror fan on earth... but with little more than a mic. & a really unique perspective, he does everything from straight reviews (he likes Hershel Gordon Lewis' slasher movies?!) to fascinating discussions of the moral and ethical issues raised in horror films. This year for instance, he had a 4 part series on witches in the media and interviewed a real witch named Bekie Bird. Again, you might expect a one on one in a studio with Deep Thoughts. Instead, she talked about the problems in taking her kid to school and dealing with parents who thought she was a weirdo. Or his H.P. Lovecraft episode when he quotes Psalm 139 ("Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there".) - and asks how we'd feel if it was Cthluhu, not God he was talking about!!!
Plus he plays his own movie music concerts ("put on Your Plastic Shades for the theme from Howling 2, You Sister is a Werewolf"!) a 4 part series defending Halloween... and he welcomes Satanists.
C'Mon! Can I get an Am... uh, seconder?
