One question: The McFarland site also lists the following: Science Fiction Stars and Horror Heroes Interviews with Actors, Directors, Producers and Writers of the 1940s through 1960s Tom Weaver Research Associates John Brunas and Michael Brunas Is this your NEW book of interviews, or is it an old book with a new cover? They seem to list the copywrite as 2006 AND 1991. Does this book contain the little interview with the stuntman guy who played the T-Rex in Land Unknown?! I remember a while back you said this was going to be the cover of your latest collection of interviews. If it is, I didn't even know it was out.

I WANTED to put the LAND UNKNOWN-dinosaur-reading-a-newspaper shot on either my next NEW book of interviews, or on UNIVERSAL HORRORS--THE '50s -- but then I started to worry about the fact that I've given copies of that photo to lots of people, and THEY'VE probably shared it -- I wanted to be the one to "debut" that photo on a book cover, so I figured, "I'd either better do it soon or fuhgeddabout, because someone else will if I don't." So when McFarland wanted to reprint an old interview book that featured my interview with director Virgil LAND UNKNOWN Vogel, I said to myself, "Well, here's my chance."

I say the same thing every time anybody asks, but it never turns out to be true: "I'm really going to seriously get down to it soon." Co-writer Steve Kronenberg finished HIS part of the book eons ago, I feel terrible that I've been so slow -- but every time it looks like I'll have some free time in the near-future to work on it, I get offered a "do-it-now-or-we'll-hire-somebody-else" freelance assignment, or something goes wrong with the house that needs immediate attention, or I'm made aware that some 97-year-old horror movie veteran still walks the Earth ("Interview him now or fuhgeddabout") -- and UH THE '50S goes on the back burner again.

However, the updated Universal book sounds great. How much of it (percentage-wise) would you guess is new compared to the original?

Feb 20 07 9:24 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Some chapters, where we thought of a lot more to say, found new info, or found new interviewees -- a good bit. Others, like say LIFE RETURNS (what more is anybody gonna find out about THAT in the 21st century?) ... not so much. Just about every chapter still has the basic framework of the old but here and there you'll find a room expanded, a fresh coat of paint, some different rugs, some new window treatments, etc. But there ARE rooms where all we did was go in and dust!

For me, the original was not only at the vanguard of important and thorough horror film history books, but it has remained at the top of the list. Congrats!
