The independant bookstore I moonlight at had a release party as well, and we were packed. We did try and make it seem like a little more than a sales gimmick. I constructed life-sized dementors and a Nearly Headless Nick for the store. There was live music and games for the dozen or so actual kids that were in attendance.

We ended up witha lot of spill over from Borders-- a lot of frustrated people facing a really long line, and the possibility the Borders store would run out before they even got one. We were actually pretty efficient in moving the lines, and had everyone out of the store in about an hour and a half.

It was actually a lot of fun.
