Subscription copies of A Real Monster Magazine were mailed this morning at 8:30 AM. The SCARY MONSTERS 2012 YEARBOOK, MONSTER MEMORIES #20 is scheduled to hit comic book stores this Wednesday and should have arrived at most other stores and newsstands either last week or this week. Don't forget to send in your photos of *SCARY MONSTERS on the Stands!* Both issues will be on the stands together and released less than a month apart. DOUBLE the Scary Fun is guaranteed for all! SCARY 83 as well as our first SCARY SUMMER SPECIAL in four years will premiere at MONSTER BASH. More details on the Summer Special No. 4 can be found on the Scary Monsters Magazine Facebook Page. The Special is printed and will arrive at the Scarehouse Monday afternoon. My son Dylan's new animated Sam Scare cartoon called PREHISTORIC PITSTOP will debut on Saturday night at 8 pm at the BASH along with his new film NUK-A-SAURUS...more details and a jpeg and trailer can be found on our Facebook page.

It would have been pretty cool to have "Kiko" and Minya interacting with one another on the cover. Maybe growling at one another or playing with one another through a jungle setting. We have never seen Godzilla and King Kong's sons interacting with each other before, and since the main article compares both monsters to one another, having one confronting the other on the cover would have been pretty cool, instead of a shot of "Kiko" from The Son of Kong movie poster on the front and a generic shot of Minya on the back. The Catch of the Day!

The Scaremail is starting to come in on SCARY 83 and yes, the WAR EAGLES articles seems to be a hit along with the GORGO Charlton comics article, PREHISTORIC CLICHES article, LOST MANIMAL PHOTOS article and KAIJU KORNER SON OF GODZILLA/SON OF KONG comparison article. I had many different cover ideas including a WAR EAGLES cover with the additon of Son of Kong, Gorgo and Son of Godzilla to the scene to give Scary Terry Beatty but since I had used the SON OF KING poster to make a mock-up cover for Diamond I decided to expand on that.

It's another totally out of control issue and I'm currently on page 110 and have already added pages to make it another GIANT 146 page issue! Once again it is our lost and your gain with the added pages. We always want to present the best variety of scary entertainment and 8 or more hours of reading in each issue of A Real Monster Magazine! Some of the Scary contents are revealed in the current issue of Diamond's PREVIEWS catalog.

Aug 13 12 5:13 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Thanks for all the congrats and yes, SCARLET STREET started earlier in the year about six months before SCARY MONSTERS. I didn't really plan on celebrating the 21st anniversary but every year in the life of a monster magazine is important as many magazines have come and gone over the years. SCARY MONSTERS is unique in that it has had a continuous run and come out on time every time over the last 21 years and has had the same cover artist, Scary Terry Beatty since we started sporting painted covers with issue 8. I'm sure some of the newer publishers who maybe thought there was money to be made publishing a monster magazine will soon realize that there isn't and perhaps quit publishing or go to a more erratic schedule but I'm enjoying all the currently published monster mags. Last year's 20th was important to me and issue 100 which would be our 25th anniversary unless I bump up our quarterly publishing schedule seems to be very important to many. For several years I have been hearing, "I can't wait until issue 100!" As always thanks to all our Scary Supporters and Scary Readers! Back to SCARY 84...
