Robots and Monster Kids to the Rescue!
This is a very different posting here on the Creepy Classics News, but a real important one for the solidarity of Monster Movie Fans everywhere. Please read....Noah is a next generation "Monster Basher" that needs you.
Here is some info on Noah in general, and the treatments Noah's parent's are trying to raise money for:
Noah Sheaffer, 8 years old, was diagnosed with trisomy 8 and cerebral palsy at 15 months old. As a result of his condition, Noah has problems doing the everyday things you and I take for granted. Sitting up, walking, talking, or even reaching for and grasping objects are things that Noah still cannot do without help. Trisomy 8 is a genetic condition. On the eighth chromosome, Noah has three pieces of genetic material instead of the normal two.

Down's syndrome is basically trisomy 22. The lower the number of chromosome where this abnormality occurs, the worse the damage to the human body. Noah's condition has left him very susceptible to pneumonia and sinus infections. He also currently has a feeding tube since his muscle control has affected his ability to effectively swallow. In the past, he has had hernia surgery, a lazy eye corrected by surgery, and has had tubes inserted into his eardrums to equalize the pressure three different times.
One of Noah's favorite things is watching old monster movies with his dad. He loves Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, and is always ready to watch another movie. This makes his dad very, very happy. Noah is also a very big Cleveland Indians fan. No matter where he may be when the game comes on, he wiggles his way to the television to watch the game. Noah, in spite of all his physical limitations, is one of happiest people you'll ever meet. He always has a smile for everyone. Even during his sometimes painful physical therapy, he is usually smiling. He is, simply put, an amazing individual.
Noah's parents, Scott and Susan Sheaffer, are currently trying to raise money to help them pay for hyper-baric oxygen treatments for Noah. These treatments force extra oxygen into the bloodstream, which in turn helps brain synapses or muscle tissue react better. Noah's parents recently toured a facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, and met with the doctor. No one can be sure of what benefits Noah will glean from this therapy, but all have said Noah WILL see benefits. Almost everyone who has undergone the treatments has seen improvements in their health. Sadly, the treatments are not covered under Noah's medical insurance, so it is up to the family to find a way to pay for everything out of pocket. Hopefully, the fundraiser will go well enough that Noah can receive these treatments.

Monster Bashers to the rescue! -- The Benefit for Noah will be held on March 12, 2006, starting at 4pm and is being held at Shelby Senior High School in Shelby, Ohio. Events planned for the benefit: A spaghetti supper, bake sale, silent auction, 50/50 drawings, Charlie Frey (the Cleveland Browns quarterback and native of a neighboring town) signing autographs (appearance still pending), possibly a Cleveland Indians player or two signing autographs, the First Lutheran Church Worship Band (the band Noah's dad is in), and a special comedy performance by none other than Monster Fan comedian Don Reese at 8pm.
Anyone wishing to contribute may send donations to: Noah's Miracle Fund PO Box 112 Tiro, Ohio 44887.
Make any checks out to: Noah's Miracle/Scott & Susan Sheaffer. Any money collected not used for Noah's treatments will be donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. For more information, or questions e-mail Noah's dad, Scott Sheaffer: scottmandew@yahoo.com.

Please let's Help Noah, Monster Kid and son of a Monster Kid!
--------------------------------------------------
This is obviously a worthy effort and we hope all members -- active or casual -- open their hearts and their Vasarian wallets for this worthy cause. And for Noah.
Best wishes from all us monsters kids at the CHFB!
