Probably because it's very emotional to me and stirs thoughts of one's mortality, I guess. As a kid, the one that both stirred the emotions AND scared the crap out of me was I, ROBOT...where three kids' grandmother dies and Dad (Larry Tate) takes them to a place where they can "build a Grandma" out of robotic parts! Angela Cartwright was one of the kids, as I recall. YIKES!

Jun 12 06 9:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My favorite is the first season episode with Rod Taylor, Jim Hutton, & Charles Aidman. About the 3 astronauts who return from the first manned space flight & begin to vanish one by one. Jim Hutton is superb in his role as a deeply frightened man.

I agree with you, it's a great one. As I think I stated earlier in this thread, my all-time favorite Zone episode is "Walking Distance". As Back lot Charlie said about "Kick The Can", "Walking Distance" is very emotional for me. It just pushes all my buttons and gives me the chills.

When they reran them in my area, it seemed like an endless cycle of "Two" and "The Howling Man" and "The Masks"..while there were others they never played (and we watched them just about every time). Oh, and the one with the slot machine that said "Frrrrranklin!" I was such a wimp. That actually frightened me. As did "Long Distance Call." Phone calls from the dead and the original John Keel/Gray Barker MIB are the campfire stories that will keep me awake every time.

"The Grave" with Lee Marvin, who ends up scaring himself to death (we think) by accidentally pinning his coat with a knife to the grave of a man he was terrified of in life. There's a dozen others I liked probably as well but if I had to pick just one that would be it. That's one of my favorites too, Specterman. James Best, Strother Martin, Lee van Cleef, and the actress who played the dead man's spooky sister rounded out the cast nicely. I think that was one of the episodes written and directed by Montgomery Pittman, the only guy ever to perform double duty on TZ, as far as I know. He wrote and directed a couple of others, too, including "Two" with Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson.

Nov 23 06 2:12 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My favorite from the 60 minute season is: THE NEW EXHIBIT with Martin Balsam. murdering wax figures directed by John Brahm(who directed some of the best THRILLERS) So hard to pick a best of the half hour episodes: I'll go with LITTLE GIRL LOST(nuff' said here) TO SERVE MAN( same said) LIVING DOLL(Telly Savalas) FIVE CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN EXIT (soldier,scotsman,ballerina,clown) And 2 episodes that always "choke me up" : THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD (Donald Pleasance tour de force performance) WALKING DISTANCE ( Gig Young in a " you can never go home again" drama.

It was a shock to see Martin join the hall of fame at the end. Martin Lombard Secescu The question has been asked before whether it would have been more effective to actually not show the waz figures moving at all, or leave it to the viewer's imagination if they moved or not Comments on this, please?

I prefer this to the imagination as to the very creepy feeling of a youngster watching wax figures come to life. Scared the "bejeez's" out of me as a kid. and like that guy from Missouri sez, "You gotta show me" !
