Dec 17 06 6:27 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	In spite of the fact that the FX of this short-lived but much-loved TV series look pretty bad by todays standards, the stories were so good and the characters so likable that the show still has thousands of fans today. And if youre one of the lucky few who bought some of the fantastic toys which were made to go along with this show, youre fondness for it was raised significantly. This show allowed you to interact with it by shooting at the bad guys . . . while they shot back at you! Even though the show was cancelled by its sponsor, the Mattel Toy Company, the producers and writers ended the series with a compelling episode which could easily lead into an exciting third season which would involve the rescue of the supposedly deceased Jennifer Pilot Chase! If youre a fan of the show, and youre curious about how this miracle might be accomplished, heres a hint. In Jennifers last scene, as she is about to blow up Captain Powers base, she shouts a defiant challenge to Blaster who is about to digitize her. The scene cuts to a long shot of the mountains in which Captain Powers base is located and the explosion which destroys it. So . . . what do you think might have happened, folks? ________________________________________ Is there no man on this earth who has the wisdom and innocence of a child?

Oct 1 12 5:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The producers and writers of Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future are preparing to bring back the show in a one-hour time slot with stories which aren't ham-stringed by the need to promote Mattel's toys geared to work with the program. (By the way . . . the toys were great.) Click on the link below and read about this exciting project. http://captainpowerreturns.net/pr.html After years of suffering the cancellations of great sci-fi shows like TOS, Space Rangers, Firefly, and many others, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future just might be the one series which succeeds in rising from the dead and living again! If that's true, the name of this new series is especially appropriate: Phoenix Rising. Don't know about you folks, but I'm really looking forward to this one. PS: Please note that my original post about this series was in 2006 -- and the only reply to it in six years has been by me! Come on guys, we can't keep rehashing all those old movies and TV shows from the last millennium forever! Eventually we have to start enjoying something which came out after our children were born! Oct 2 12 6:48 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	They have been hoping to get Captain Power back on for years. Sadly I don't think it will happen. Would be great though. I loved the old show and thought the stories were great and not written at all like a kids show.

In fact, I still have all the original episodes taped onto VHS, and also some of the toys. I was also on Compuserve at the time (at 300 bps and $6/hour), where JMS had set up shop to talk to fans of CP, The Real Ghostbusters. and The Twilight Zone...much like he did on the Internet for Babylon 5. I even have a few goodies from those days that I dug out very recently and will eventually scan and post. Unfortunately, while I know of the various web sites and the Yahoo Groups mailing list, I haven't been very good at staying in touch with CP fandom. If youre a fan of the show, and youre curious about how this miracle might be accomplished, heres a hint. Second season. I know something about where they were planning to take the show, but don't recall a supernatural twist. You're sure about this? It would actually go against everything they established in the first season. I recall the team aligning themselves with a group of freedom fighters in Canada, Sauron switching sides, etc. While I don't know if it's ever been published, my guess is Landry was the founder of Eden II. Personally, I don't think the special effects look that bad. I think they still top certain "rushed" episodes of B5 and much of the CG in Seaquest (both shows from 6+ years later). I don't have the commercial DVD set yet, but did get the unofficial set a few years ago as a Christmas present. I assumed it had been released as part of the groundwork for a new series. Pity that hasn't been the case. So even it's just you and me, you're no longer the only hardcore Monster Kid fan!

"[The audiance] will populate the darkness with more horrors than all the horror writers in Hollywood could think of. If you make the screen dark enough, the mind's eye will read anything into it you want! We're great ones for the dark patches." -VAL LEWTON
