Or maybe I should say "favorite" and "least favorite" as I don't think there is any TOS or DS9 I really, really hate.
THRESHOLD is so outstandingly awful it might be the worst episode of any STAR TREK series. So that's an easy pick for me as my least favorite VOYAGER episode. As much as I criticized the show when it was on, in retrospect I can think of a lot of bits of episodes I really liked a lot. I was really moved by what was no doubt just a B plot involving the Doctor doing Pygmilion with Seven of Nine, but the A plot was apparently totally forgettable. I guess the episode that keeps springing into my mind as a favorite is the one were Tuvok is somehow mentally regressed to a child and forms an attachement to Neelix.
DEEP SPACE NINE became so reliant on continuing storylines and had so many fabulous episodes, it might be easier to just pick a favorite arc. But I might have an odd choice for a single all time favorite; it's particulary odd because it doesn't feature any of my favorite characters, in fact it centers on my two least favorite DS9 characters! I have no idea what the title is, but it was about Kira's steady beau Vedig B' Riel is slowly suffering brain death and they keep replacing bits of it with mechanical parts untill finally that spark of what made him who he was is heartbreakingly absent.
My least favorite would probrably be that Brigadoon planet, even though it marked Jeffrey Combs first appearance on the show, and this time not in heavy makeup.
My least favorite TNG would have to be the one where Dr. Crusher visits the Planet of the Scottsman, and takes up with a Space Vampire!-Anne Rice style, her grandmother willed to her. That might actually give THRESHOLD a run for it's money as my all time least favorite. My favorite for some reason is "The one with Data's daughter". I know treads a lot of the same ground as THE MEASURE OF A MAN but I think it does it a lot better with the hook of Data and his daughter. Plus it's funny and cute and really sad!
I have a hard time choosing a single all time favorite TOS episode. I'll give it some thought and post it later. There are certainly very good reasons CITY ON THE EDGE OF FOREVER is often considered the best Star Trek episode of all time! But no matter how many times I've seen THE DOOMSDAY MACHINE, it still seems just as suspensful and exciting as ever. And then again I really adore the straight up comedy episodes THE TROUBLE WITH TRIBBLES and A PIECE OF THE ACTION.
The only two episodes I might actually switch off are THE OMEGA GLORY and THE LIGHTS OF ZENON (not sure I even have the title right.). For some reason THE OMEGA GLORY just really depresses me. THE LIGHTS Of...whatever, just puts me into a coma. Like a lot of the worse Roger Moore James Bond films, it puts me into such a stupor of boredom nothing sinks in and I have no idea what I've just been sitting in front of for the past hour. I'm still really not sure what the episode is about.
Which brings us nicely to ENTERPRISE. An entire series that a laregly can not remember as it was on the whole dull and forgettable. To be honest I was well into starting this topic before I even remembered there was a 5th show!
