When Tony Randall introduced THE ODD COUPLE episode , FELIX , THE HORSE PLAYER , on TVLAND , he made special mention of Feld's appearance: " ... an actor you've seen in the background in many Hollywood films .. Vito Scotti. " I knew that was wrong and it encouraged me to find out the actor's true identity and I've been an admirer of his ever since. Now , can someone explain to me ... After Carl tells Captain Quill that he believes the aliens are afraid of light , Quill seeems to trust him and says " I'll see what I can do, " and walks out of the museum. Back in the museum , it occurs to Carl that it is actually the recharger in his camera that scared off the aliens. When he goes outside to tell Quill , we see several vehicles on fire and Quill starts berating Carl about his " light " theory. What I don't understand is .. Feb 11 12 5:24 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I believe that time might have been "compressed" for dramatic reasons at that point in "They have Been . . ." Quill has seen enough weird sh** to accept that Kolchak might be right (not that he'd ever admit it), so he goes out to set up big portable lamps. Meanwhile, a couple of more skeptical cops annoy the alien, which then rushes out over Kolchak. Carl then listens to his flash recharger and decides it's the noise more than the light that repels the creature. He rushes out too -- And in that tiny interval, the cops have set up huge outdoor lights, the alien has emerged, smashed the lights and a couple of police cars (causing them to burst into flame), and left. Now Carl comes up with another cockamamie theory on how to stop the thing; Quill's probably wishing he didn't listen to him the first time.

Probably more for budgetary , rather than dramatic , reasons but , yes , I think your theory is correct. Something happened but we , the audience , didn't see it. Composer Dave Grusin is credited with "Original Music" in Prescription Murder, but he is not credited anywhere on KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER. Were Pepe's 3 assistants supernatural beings or just well paid mortal sluts ? They , along with Pepe , get off completely unpunished even though they were directly involved with the murders. That always bugged me. I always found it odd that , out of left field , Pepe mentions his mother , who is never seen in the episode. I recently noticed that there is a Mrs Torres listed in the closing credits so I'm assuming there was a scene with his mother filmed but didn't make the final cut. Weren't Eric Estrada's parents , or grandparents , members of some cult and murdered in a strangely similar fashion as the victims in this episode ? An episode of the 70's series police story called "The Ripper": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0676366/ Detectives Hallett and Baker hunt a serial killer who is attacking and mutilating gay men. Starring: Darren McGavin as Matt Hallett, a more subdued character than Kolchak but with solid similarities as well Katie Brown as Hallett's girlfriend (less upwardly mobile than her Irene Lamont character in the final Kolchak episode The Sentry) Barry Atwater as the police chief (not quite Janos Skorzeny, but close!) Virginia Gregg (from the Spanish Moss Murders) and John "Gordy the Ghoul" Fielder Not only that, they are dealing with a "Ripper" murder!
