Back in the seventies , someone I know , got Field's address and wrote him requesting an interview. Sadly , he received a reply from a relative saying that Sid had just passed away. Well my dear "green eyed" friend, I certainly did meet Mr. Gleason too! I was a school mate of writer Marvin Marx's son. That's how I ended up on the show. Literally. Reginald Van Gleason III walked down the audience aisle and pretended to whack me and another little guy with his cane during the taping. Also hung out with Frankie Fontaine, and actress/dancer Elizabeth Allen. I was 9 or 10 years old and the experience floored me!

Nah , if I recall , the prized hen , Agnes , shows up after Barber makes that peculiar statement. " There's plenty of spuds and onions in the deep freeze. " " That's all we need to cook with Gwendoline. "

One of the things I've always loved about the 2nd season is that one canned laugh that sounds more like a wild bird than a human being. It can be heard in most of the 2nd season shows but in WELL OILED it's ( over ) used , in the scene where Costello is trying to put the stamp on the envelope , to a ridiculous extreme.
