Oh yeah, a broken film is almost always guaranteed to elicit a negative and oft-times vocal reaction.
Just remembered another film that caught some raspberries tossed at it. Another kiddie matinee double feature: BILLY THE KID vs. DRACULA and JESSE JAMES MEETS FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER. The former got away unscathed but the latter was highly and quite loudly ridiculed by its mainly prepubescent audience. But then I reckon kids are most likely to react yay or nay to a movie. When our local community center used to play Friday night movies for the young'uns in the neighborhood, one of the flicks shown was ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET THE MUMMY. It seemed that everytime Klaris entered the picture half the crowd let out ear-ringing screams. Don't know how genuine those reactions were but the hall certainly got noisy.

Now that is a combination.

Crow T Robot wrote:Closest I've seen to an audience booing is when I went to see Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace. The audience cheered when they saw the opening title, "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." After the movie ended and the audience was bombarded with the poor acting of "Mannequin" Skywalker, the unfunny Jar-Jar Binks, the incredibly dull pod race, the mediocre CGI effects, the incredibly bad Yoda puppet, and the forgettable story, the audience left their seats being very quiet. I sighed and said out loud, "Well, that was 2 and 1/2 hours of my life I'll never get back." One of the audience members answered, "Yeah, well, lets hope Episode 2 will be better." I'm not quite sure it was.

Definitely Frankensteinhead. If I were a young Monsterkid spending my allowance on something called NIGHT OF THE BLOOD MONSTER and no "monster" appeared, I'd have been royally p*****. Felt that way with the infamous CURUCU and even BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES.
Also wouldn't have been much impressed (at the time) with BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY'S TOMB.

I saw THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME when it first came out; the theatre manager absolutely refused to turn the sound up and the audience was all early 20's metalheads who wanted it l o u d. So to show their disapproval the kids stomped on the seats, breaking several of them, throwing popcorn, candy wrappers, and in 1 case a full can of beer at the screen.
At both ROCKY and ROCKY II the audience was wildly enthusiastic and cheered at he ending. The audience applauded the end of all 3 STAR WARS films, SUPERMAN, and CARRIE.
At a revival showing of ON HER MAJESTYS SECRET SERVICE, one female audience member let out a audible "oh, no!" when Blofeld and Irma Bunt suddenly appear with a machine gun.
At another revival showing of THE BIG SLEEP, another female member of the audience let out a loud "oh my God!" when Bacall tells Bogie it depends on "who's in the saddle", being a veiled reference to sex.
