When I started reading the folders, and the names of the people posting-people whose books and articles I had been enjoying for years-it felt like Christmas morning. I had a ball going through those old folders, going back to the beginning, and felt like a kid in a candy store as I read one great post after another. I found the courage to start posting, and I've been here ever since. Thanks and congratulations to David, Tom W., Gary, Kerry, and all of the other founders and members of the CHFB.

I was not -- in fact, there was a CHFB for several years before I ever had Internet access. Continuing down Memory Lane: Part of the reason I got Internet access and joined the CHFB was because there were constant attacks on me from a few disgraceful CHFB vagabonds ... I thought it'd be fun to show up here and start raining on their lying parades. Thank goodness they're gone gone gone. We've got a long way, baby, to get where we got to today -- the best Monster Kid spot in cyberspace. Thank you, founders!

When I think of what Monster Life was like growing up in the 1960s, when there was hardly anyone to talk with about horror/sci-fi/fantasy films, when discussing such films usually got you funny looks and a "weirdo" label, when your Monster Jonesing for information was fed only maybe once or twice a month when a new magazine might arrive on the newsstands, when your Monster Thirst was fed only by sporadic TV screenings or movie releases, the CHFB seems like something of a Monster Miracle Oasis, something no Monster Kid could have predicted.
I started back in the AOL days and then migrated in the great Monster Exodus. Within a few weeks the AOL folder was a ghost town populated by one stubborn hold out who had the whole place to himself. I imagine now crickets reign supreme. There have been contretemps (my $10 word-of-the-day) here but, in general, the CHFB has been a far more friendly and civilized environment than AOL could ever have thought of being.
And that's why there's a big hats off to the moderators here. They do what they think is right, fair, and just. Some disagree and maybe there have been some missteps. But, really, who could do a better job and remain 100% above criticism? So, thanks to you fellas, you help keep everything running smoothly and on track. Happy 19th; I can only hope that I'll be around for another 19.
