Vancouver police and the coroner's service confirmed Saturday night that 31-year-old actor Cory Monteith was found dead in his Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel room shortly after noon. Police said Monteith checked into the hotel on July 6 and was due to check out today. The family of Monteith, who is from B.C., were notified late Saturday and police confirmed the actor had been dead for a few hours when found.
No immediate cause of death was apparent, and inquiries are continuing.
Monteith was a loud and proud Canucks fan in May as he and his co-star girlfriend, Lea Michele, cheered on the team at Vancouver's Rogers Arena.
