We are pleased to announce that barring any last-minute disasters (of which we've already had more than our share), the next four MMM CDs will be unleashed upon the public very soon. Titles will be announced as we get closer to the release date, but until then, here are some clues:
MMM-1971: Features one score by a composer we've already featured, and one score by a composer whose work has never before appeared on CD, and as far as I know, only once on LP. Both films had a combined budget of about $27.38, but the music is amazing, fun, and is sure to drive your neighbors crazy. In fact, one of the scores is likely to drive YOU crazy!
MMM-1972: Two scores by a composer whose film work has never before appeared on album or CD, but whose name you will recognize immediately because he played such an important role in so many horror movies you grew up with and still love.
MMM-1973: Since no label in its right mind would ever release a score from a movie practically nobody has ever seen, and if you've seen it, you've sworn you would never see it again, we figured it would be right up our alley. A really fine score from a composer you also know and love, only this sounds nothing like any of the music you've already known and loved from him. Trying to think about something good to write about the movie was one of the hardest things MMM ever attempted. Trying to think about something good to write about the music was one of the easiest.
MMM-1974: Certainly the last type of score you'd ever expect from MMM. From a composer we've featured before, but not in this context, not in this setting, and I doubt many of you have ever seen the movie or ever WANT to see the movie. But you should, because it's a good, solid picture. And you should try the score even if you swear it's not your monster-loving cup of tea. Because it's a really superb piece of work and we're proudly taking it to an Arizona convention because it'll be just perfect for it!
If those clues haven't made all the titles obvious, well, then you're just not very good at guessing games...
Samples will be going up in a few weeks. Each CD will have a 20-page book (we think), and again with special staples made in the U. S. A.!
Final clue: None of these releases feature INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, ATOMIC SUBMARINE, INVADERS FROM MARS, CATWOMEN OF THE MOON, QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, WORLD WITHOUT END, and all the usual guesses that the same people keep guessing regardless of what the clues are.
