There's actually something even more disquieting about the shower scene occurring in that deliriously happy, 50s-era robin's egg color scheme. It's just too incongruous.

Nov 18 12 10:30 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	When Turner was colorizing stuff, I think the new technology and the dearth of companies which could do it (exactly two) made the cost prohibitive, something like $80,000, or maybe as high as $200,000. Apparently additional video sales and the dubious novelty of watching a color version of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE on TNT was not worth the additional investment. It's easier now with advanced computer programs, and I'm pretty sure it's cheaper. The painstaking drudge work itself is outsourced to places like India. Interesting enough, I think the only prime-time show which ever used colorization was the revival of THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK SHOW, where the stories were remade, but old intros by Hitchcock were colorized. It was not enough to make the series a success.

I grew up watching the color re-runs and didn't realize until a few years back the show was shot in black & white.
