I was even going to be on a couple of panels ... ah, well. Next year (he said, ever hopeful)! Say hey to John Rhys-Davies for me, Dr. A! He was one of the guests I was really looking forward to meeting.

Sep 1 12 9:45 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was planning on going at least one day this year, but Thursday started to feel ill. Been laid up in bed ever since. My one of my friends made this cool Dalek costume for his 10 year old to wear this year to his first convention. It is made out of cardboard, some foam tubing, and other household items. It has handles on the inside for his son to pick it up and walk around while exterminating.

Sep 8 12 9:48 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Had I gone this year, I would've swung by the alley. too. Brian Stielfreeze (who's drawn me several times) was set to be there. He worked for a now-defunct comic studio here called Gaijin, where they had life drawing sessions. He's really talented.

I visited Gaijin Studios sometime in the early '90s and spent the afternoon talking with Brian about art and advice on getting into comics. He is a very funny, likable guy with a tremendous talent. His Shadow of the Bat covers are amazing. I have somewhere a stack of perspective/layout drawings he did while we were talking.

Sep 10 12 8:56 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I got hang out with the Gaijin Studios guys for most of a day and eat real Chinese food with them. My college throw a mini-comicon because somebody was good friends with all the artists. Adam Hughes did the art for the mini-con. Because I helped put it on, the lady who set it up treated everybody to a real Chinese diner: since she was from Hong Kong, she knew of the real ingredients and real dishes they eat over there and thus had a local resturant cook it like home after buying all the ingredients herself, and it was the best Chinese food I ever had. All the Gaijin guys were nice, and I got to visit the studio and pick up a virtual ton of free comps just lying around up there. My God, what's Bond doing?...
