Aug 26 12 12:39 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I picked BLADE because, unlike previous comic book films (i.e. SUPERMAN & BATMAN) that relied on already well established iconic characters, it proved that even an obscure character from the medium, with the proper development could launch a franchise. The success of the first BLADE film was the key in the lock that opened the door (for good or bad) to the flood of comic book films we enjoy today. Personally my favorite comic book film is probably PUNISHER: WAR ZONE with BATMAN ('89), and SUPERMAN II right up there. THE FIFTH ELEMENT always seems like something from the pages of Heavy Metal, and I probably enjoy re-watching that more than anything else on this list.

Aug 31 12 1:12 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The Avengers impressed me, largely because of how faithful it was to the books. It's not hung up on this point to the extent that it hampers the film; my girlfriend has never read a comic in her life, and The Avengers is one of her favorite movies. Still, it makes good enough use of intertextuality (to use some post-modern jargon I recently picked up) to ground itself in the source text and make good use of its hypotexts for those of us who are big fans. I have also never seen a more effective sequel teaser in my life; the collective whisper of Spoiler [+] "Thanos" in the theater only added to this.

Sep 17 12 6:46 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	THE AVENGERS for me. I thought it really captured the spirit of Marvel Comics. I voted AVENGERS because of this. I am a DC comics guy & a Batman fan forever, and love the last two DARK KNIGHT films, but they didn't feel like true "comic book" films to me. In terms of pure comic action, THE AVENGERS looked like a Marvel book come to life, and I enjoyed it alot more than I thought I would.
