I believe as far as the Olympics go the Americans have often had trouble due to the different scoring system. Seems like a lot of good fighters coming out of Eastern Europe now, I know they've had the heavyweight division locked up for a long time. I used to enjoy watching the Greco-Roman wrestling back when Karelin was still competing, his loss back in 2000 was one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history.

Christine Merrill is a world class hurdler and a mechanical engineer,something to intimidate every man! Thus far my favorite side note from the Olympics games was the discovery of Chinese trampolinist Dong Dong. Regardless of his medal performance,i'll never forget the name!

After reading about her horrendous childhood that would have demolished most people, seeing her win a medal in her first Olympics event ever was inspiring to say the least. I hope she continues with her winning ways.

A commentator called Tyson Gay the fastest man in America, which didn't charm me. It wasn't until he started talking about Gay's hip surgeries, his upcoming 30th birthday, and that this will likely be his last Olympics, that I started rooting for him.
