Sometimes "melodrama" was better than more specific designations. I remember staying up late one Saturday night because TV Guide promised me that "Science-Fiction" epic FLAME OF THE ISLANDS.

I see an 11:15 listing for the movie DRAGONFLY SQUADRON which I only recently saw for the first time via Bob Furmanek's 3-D version. Look at DANGER MAN (Patrick McGoohan) followed by THE THIRD MAN (Michael Rennie). And 11:20 seems like a weird start time for CHINA GATE.
Like everybody else I'd meticulously inspect every page of TV GUIDE and mark the movies of greatest interest. Is my memory correct that they eventually had a listing of all the movies in one spot? I enjoyed reading Judith Crist's reviews, too. Like all critics she gets bashed but I paid attention to her comments, while not always agreeing. I also clipped the movie listings and attached them to index cards to keep track of what I'd seen. I really liked the little graphic ads placed by the networks for their network movies. I kept a lot of those and later, since they were the perfect size, would glue them to my off-air VHS recordings. I used to clip the "Close-up" listings which generally took up a half page. They all went into the file. I still have many of these and the ads.
