I'm currently documenting precisely when Exclusive Films began composing for widescreen. Based on the original material that I've located so far, the switch to widescreen cinematography took place in possibly June but certainly by August 1953.
The initial public presentation of widescreen in the UK took place at the Odeon, Leicester Square on May 14, 1953.
My findings as well as documentation from primary source materials will be published very soon.
