I wasn't expecting much when I went to see this upon its release, but found it thoroughly enjoyable.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of this one. Lots of humor, scares and has an incredible energy throughout. Plus, the always adorable Thom Mathews and the great James Karen.

Do you remember the freaky scene where there was an actual dwarfish zombie chasing someone? There are some very striking memorable scenes in this, for a film that's only semi-serious.

My favorite scene is where Clu Gulager says "Be a man, Bert! Be a man!" while taking up a safe position as James Karen opens the meat locker door, and when the zombie bursts out it makes a beeline for Clu, who says "Ngyaaah!"

I saw this in eighth grade and I remember being very taken with the notion that there maybe were kids out there named Suicide and Trash. I think Linnea Quigley's weirdly erotic proclamation of how she wants to die is hilarious. This movie has to achieve one of the most careful balances between humor and horror that I've seen. When the female zombie relates how agonizingly painful it is to be dead, it's a genuine moment of empathy for a monster.

MORE BRAINS!!!! I saw this in the theatre during it's general release and it's always been an 80's favorite for me. Linnea was at her best here!

Although I do appreciate the Romero "Dead" sequels, I think that Return of the Living Dead was better.

How could you not like this work??? It is an excellent balance of horror and comedy. The cinematography was befitting a comic book, yet it didn't come off as cartoonish. It was believable yet unbelievable. Dead on performances with cast chemistry that allows the film to stand the test of time even today.
It really should have gotten the royal treatment for DVD. Where are the audio commentaries, the deleted scenes, gag reels, all that wonderful stuff fans want? I hear there is a work print floating around out there with the missing footage. Well...I have an old VHS copy I still run. The music, the monsters, the mess everyone got in...now that's entertainment. |

Great movie - funny, and actually scary. You want empathy for a zombie? How about James Karen's demise?

I was full on into the Punk movement when this was released, and I was a zombie movie fanatic, so this thing was a gift from the Gods to me. I must have hit the theater 5 times to see it. Heck, I was 15 and lucked out everytime that the theater didn't care to ask for an I.D. But to this day, the movie still works as well now as it did then. Granted, I would like the original music on the DVD, but I can't complain too much. But how odd is it that the song deleted is by possibly one of the greatest bands ever, The Damned!!!

One of my alltime favorites! I had a dupe of it back in the 80's and wore it slam out. Thankfully DVDs came along!

I'll have to check. The song playing during Karens suicide into the crematory is by Roky Erikkson, for those looking for it. Only a couple of songs bit the dust, one of which being the one by The Damned called "Dead Beat Dance", it's also really the first song we get. It's the one that ends with the laugh as Suicides car goes racing over the train tracks in the beginning after her turns around on the guys while driving.

Saw it when it came out and I was in college at the time. Great, fun film and I'm not much of a zombie fan. Was disappointed to find the nude scene was a body stocking.

Absolute, ghoulish fun. And this movie made me a James Karen fan for life. Sorry his scenes in Superman Returns got left on the cutting room floor.
