If we have another thread for this film, I absolutely can't find it. I have to say that this is a strong scary film - my nieces were terrified when they saw it a few years ago. The general story: Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford are a couple whose daughter leaves for college, and after an accident, Pfeiffer begins to suspect she is being haunted. Certainly this is one of the best of the ghost film genre (of which there aren't nearly enough really good films - The Haunting and The Innocents being two strong predecessors).
I'm guessing that the lack of a thread on this film means that it didn't work for many of our horror fans here?
An interesting note for fans of spooky stuff: One of the screenwriters is Sarah Kernochan (Impromptu, Sommersby, 9 1/2 Weeks):

In a cool coincidence, she is writing about her ghostly encounters on her blog now, and though I've only read the first 5 installments, it's very interesting stuff (and interesting autobiography as well):

| Kernochan wrote the original script for this film for Steven Spielberg. The premise of an empty-nest couple and a female ghost was meant to resemble his "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND" -- a realistic journey about making contact with the "other side," full of awe and wonderment as well as chills. Spielberg ultimately opted to do another movie instead, and the script was reworked for Robert Zemeckis as a horror movie. Kernochan decided to take only a story credit because the final version ranged so far afield from her own script, which had been partly based on her own close encounters with a ghost in her house. |
