I finally saw this. It took more than two decades, but by golly, if the internet is good for anything I finally saw Varan the Unbelievable. It was the American cut, and I thought the leading man was kind of a jerk. "Sorry honey, but women aren't supposed to be making decisions, you know that. And as soon as we get the *+## out of this craphole, I'll whisk you back to the good ole U.S. of A." Well, at least that's the vibe I got off him. I know they're different times, but still. Not that it ruined the movie for me, it kind of added to it. I really like the scenes of Varan in the water, for some reason I found it more believable than a lot of other older Toho films, maybe it was the black and white.
But anywho, I didn't see a thread on Varan anywhere, and it had been on my list for so long, that I thought I'd make it my first thread. Any thoughts on it or the differences between the American and Japanese versions?
