As you may have noticed, a number of personal insult postings have been deleted in the last week, and will continue to be deleted until the prime offenders realize these boards are about the genre and the discussions -- and not about them.
You also may have noticed that the posts in question were deleted by a fellow administrator -- with no involvement nor even knowledge by me -- which underscores the shared determination we have here at the CHFB to keep this a pleasant environment where people can have opinions without fear of reprisals or cybertaunts.
If you disagree with someone's opinion, argue a different opinion. Try to be persuasive, fact-based, eloquent, whatever it takes. But don't attack the person. If so, such posts will be removed. And if it continues, violators may face stricter action.
Seriously. We administrators have plenty to handle here -- misplaced posts, accidents, membership rolls, graphics and EZBoard issues, and yes, moderating the occasional legitimate flare-ups that are going to happen from time to time -- to have to be bothered stepping in everytime some yadda yadda nonsense starts between members who very well know they're violating the board's standards.
And those who complain about the 'fairness' of what gets deleted are taking the issue to an even more annoying level. You reap what you sow, you know?
So this is a serious warning, guys. No more sniping at each other. The rest of the membership deserves better. Thanx.
