As implausible and loopy as the premise is I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was fun seeing historical figures portrayed in a genre setting. No, I didn't read the novel so everything was a surprise. Screenplay fills in enough character and motivation to make you care but its don't think twice pacing allows for suspension of disbelief as better fantasy films should.
Go figure, I liked this better than "Prometheus" which I saw the day before.
