Two filmmakers -- both friends of the genre and what we all do -- J. Michael Roddy and Robert Tinnell, have been filming segments for in depth looks at the horror boom phenomenom and how it has affected filmmkaing ever since. Robert Tinnell's planned piece, 'That $#!% Will Rot Your Brain,' fell short of an aggressive funding goal using the Kickstarter fund-raising site. Bob has relaunched a fundig effort, this time using the indiegogo fund-raising tool. NOTE: If you donated previously to kickstarter, that has gone by the boards and no money was collected, so you'd need to donate again to indiegogo. He needs additional funding to complete his work. If WE don't support this project it will never be released. It's for us, and about us...the Monster Kids. Bob is a Rondo winner, a gifted creative artist, and a man sincerely and passionately devoted to monster films and fans. Donate the cost of a dvd. Give anything. This is important. Follow the directions inside the link, and read how each of us may help Bob to do justice on film to everyone at this forum, and Forry's children all over the world. Apr 28 12 8:18 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Nancy and I are contributing. Anyone who has seen Bob's film, FRANKENSTEIN AND ME, knows how good he is. And I so much wanted to be part of this I brought the news photographer over from a local television station to shoot my answers to Bob's questions (Bob was on the telephone listening to me in Iowa while he was in West Virginia - my pal, Cory Black, holding the phone and relaying the questions - which also evolved into a television special on me and my magazine at that CBS station). Plus, this is all being shot in HD. It'll look great! Filled with both key fans, old geezers like me, and pros in the field. This is really something special being done by a very dear and talented friend of almost 40 years. This will be a fan-boy/girl team project!!

Apr 29 12 8:04 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Looks great, but music is all wrong. Sixties surfin' music is NOT what we monster kids were necessarily listening to. If you need some authentic monstrous music, you might want to contact my company and perhaps we can help you out. Or there are other companies who own the real thing as well. I know you want to capture a sense of "fun," and this is coming from a real surf music fan (Dick Dale is a fan of our label), but it just creates a strange "vibe" for me. Like you're mixing monster with surf party movies... I know it's just a trailer, and I know there was a very slight cross-over between monsters and hot rod music (courtesy mainly of producer Gary Usher), hopefully whatever score is used in the actual movie will be more musically appropriate while maintaining the same sense of fun... Apr 30 12 5:15 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	You are entitled to your opinion, as am I. But I think the inappropriate music somehow "cheapens" the concept. Monster Kiddom is so different from other "nostaligic" things, but the music chosen is just what you'd expect from maybe a TV spot on hula hoops or goldfish swallowing or something that has NOTHING to do with music. Monster films have EVERYTHING to do with music, so why in the world would you want to choose the WRONG music? It would be like doing a documentary on film noirs, but having circus music playing. One has nothing to do with the other. Maybe use Rolling Stones music in a documentary about the Beatles, perhaps? I'm not saying EVERYTHING has to be musically related to monster music, but I think zero percent is a little on the low side. Or is this totally different than that? I'm honored to be an executive producer on the film and I think it's going to be very special. As far as the music in the trailer, with all due respect to David Schecter, I think it works fine. For one thing, it's by the Moonrays who are the very kind of people the documentary is about - creative people who made a mark on the culture and whose imaginations were sparked by the classic horror films they saw when they were kids. Also, it immediately says "1960s" which gives the right context to the era of the big monster craze that affected so many of us. No, the film not related to the project by Michael Roddy. We just found out about each other's films recently and have been communicating. I think they are going to be very different types of films and we are hoping to keep the confusion to a minimum. To finish this film properly, and with all the creative bells and whistles, he needs to find additional funding soon. This film will be a lavish tribute to genre fans, Forry Ackerman, Famous Monsters Of Filmland, and the world of Monster Kids and the movies we all love. This documentary is dedicated to all of us. Please show your support by sending whatever you can afford now. This opportunity to legitimize the world of classic monster movies and their legions of fans may never come again. Please help. Wanted to let you know some very exciting news about Bob Tinnell's wonderful new documentary in tribute to us Monster Kids all around the world. Despite the earlier disheartening news that the project was apparently unable to meet its original financial goal through the Kickstarter program, and that the collected funds had to be refunded to the original contributors, the film is back on track...and then some. Bob has been traveling all over the country, much as Forry himself did back in the sixties, visiting writers, producers, directors, actors and just fans like us, accumulating a treasure trove of exciting, one of a kind interviews. This is going to be a truly spectacular film inspired by Forry, Famous Monsters Of Filmland, the joyous monster movie craze of the nineteen fifties, and enthuastic fans throughout the globe. Once finished, it will be a permanent memorial to the genre with all of the love and respect that it so richly deserves. Funding has begun once again, and this time with a different company.
