I haven't seen this one yet, but it's now on my Netflix list. However, I'm a bit skeptical about the basic premise, which states that the public has become disinterested in boxing matches between humans, so boxing matches between robots have become the rage.
Maybe if the robot fighters had human operators inside, the public would take an interest in such fights. But just watching two expensive, hi-tech machines damage each other doesn't sound very exciting.
It would be like watching a NASCAR race with full-sized radio-controlled cars. When they crash . . . who cares?
Actually Robot Jox did a great job of presenting a story about human-operated robots. I wish somebody would remake that movie.
But, I could be wrong. If people really would like to see robots playing professional sports, maybe my idea for robot football players and baseball players might catch on.
What do you guys think?
