Well, there seems to be a consensus that some of Reynold's singing (in particular, "Would You" and "You Are My Lucky Star") was dubbed. One popular story (the one we'd all like to believe) has it that it was Jean Hagen herself who dubbed Reynolds. However, most other references credit Betty Noyes with dubbing Reynolds in these numbers. It seems to be the case though, that Hagen did dub Reynolds for the scene in which Kathy Seldon (Reynolds' character) is supposed to be dubbing the dialogue for Lina Lamont (Hagen's character). In other words, it's Hagen dubbing Reynolds dubbing Hagen.

Not exactly a world-famous case, but an interesting one - Whitmey got angry and had his name removed from the credits. The thing I remember most from Flash Gordon (which I loved - I was 9 - and would like to see on DVD) is the green crab-legged blob monster and its death-hug. For some reason that thing creeped me out terribly.

Jun 16 06 4:39 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	FLASH is long overdue for a new DVD release. The first one is OOP and ridiculously expensive, and I would think there is enough interest from fans of the film and fans of the Queen soundtrack in general for a new edition to sell reasonably well.

Let's not forget the late Jack Hawkins, who after losing his voice to throat cancer, continued to perform in film with the aid of his many thespian friends, who seemed to enjoy taking turns dubbing his voice in film after film. You could probably fill a thread with this topic alone. THEATRE OF BLOOD comes to mind. And for all I know, one of those actors might even have worked on FLASH GORDON.

Nov 12 06 7:03 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	According to the information I have, after Jack Hawkins lost his voice to throat cancer, he was dubbed by either Charles Gray, which I knew, and Robert Rietty, which I did not know. But, as far as I can tell, neither man appeared in "Flash Gordon."
